All patients at Ladybarn Group Practice have a named GP who has overall responsibility for their care. If you would like to find out which GP this is, or to request a specific GP, please contact the surgery on 0161 448 4500.
Before you can start booking GP appointments online (or order repeat prescriptions) you must first register your details for this service. It is quick and easy to register. You will need to come into the surgery for an application form and then you will be given the relevant details to enable you to set up an account and use the system. Once registered you will be able to view any appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, or book a new appointment with the doctor. When you book an appointment online you will receive confirmation which you can print off and bring with you when you attend the surgery. There is no need to reconfirm
For same day appointments, contact the surgery on tel. 0161 448 4500 before 9am, if possible. Please state that you require an appointment today.
We reserve some appointments each day for urgent medical problems.
You will be placed on a call list to be contacted by a Clinician. We ask patients to have their phones available for this call. You and the Clinician will then decide an appropriate action for your problem; from simple advice to an urgent appointment on the day.
There are always patients needing to be seen. Please help us by not wasting an appointment. If you know you cannot attend an appointment, LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BY RINGING 0161 448 4500. It is possible to cancel appointments directly by selecting 'cancel appointment' from the options menu when you call, you may then leave a message with your details.
A considerable number of appointments are wasted when patients fail to attend (If you were paying for this consultation privately it would cost £50). Therefore, patients who miss three appointments without letting us know may receive a letter from the Practice about this problem. In the worst case scenario they may be asked to find another doctor.
Home visits are for patients who are too ill to come to the surgery.
When you telephone requesting a home visit, a GP or nurse may call you back to assess the problem and action required.
Our new premises are designed for disabled access. We hope that everyone will attend the surgery for their appointment wherever possible. A wheelchair is available if required - please ask at reception.
Life-threatening medical emergencies should go to the nearest Casualty Department. Our nearest Casualty Department is:
Manchester Royal Infirmary, Oxford Road (Grafton Street entrance). Telephone: 0161 276 1234 Open: 24 hours.
If you have severe chest pain and think you are having a heart attack, or difficulty in breathing, please dial 999 and ask for an emergency ambulance.
At times the GPs may have to deal with an emergency and see a patient out of turn. Please be patient if the surgery is running late.
If you would like a routine (not urgent on the day) appointment with your GP, we ask that you call after 10am. This is so that you are not calling at the busiest time in the morning as we receive many calls before this time requesting urgent appointments. You may then choose the GP you wish to see and will be given the times that they are next available. We aim to have at least a month of appointments available ahead of time so that you are able to plan ahead. Please be aware that the Doctor you may wish to see might have a longer wait than another Doctor. The waiting times of the Doctors will be available when requesting appointments. All routine Doctor appointments are also available to book online.
For a nurse or HCA appointment, please call after 10am. You will then be offered the appropriate dates and times, depending on the nature of your request. For a list of different clinics we offer, please see the clinics section.
