Ladybarn Community Hub Newsletter April - June 2024

In the next three months, Spring will turn into Summer, the days will get longer and longer, and Ladybarn Community Hub is launching lots of new groups!

March has flown by at the centre, with some brilliant events and new groups started. One of our big highlights was the International Women’s Day fair, which was attended by over a hundred people. There was food from Sanskruti, a drum circle, arts and crafts activities and lots of brilliant stalls from local creators. On the 22ndof March we hosted an Easter lunch. Everyone had lots of lovely Easter treats and our brilliant new cook Saika made an Easter feast, whilst David and the SoundUp singers led a singalong of favourite hits.

Another thing that we’ve just started is the walking and wheeling group. We had a great turnout for our first walk on Tuesday 5th of March and were blessed by glorious sunshine. The group meets at 11am at the Hub and goes for a walk around Kingswood park, before returning to the Hub for sandwiches and a natter. The walking group is free and is delivered with Pauline and Rose from Friends of Kingswood Park. We will be here every Tuesday come rain or shine so please come along with us!

We’re now back to a 3-month newsletter, with a whole host of new groups and activities starting soon. We hope to see familiar and new faces at our activities helping to make them a success. See our schedule of activities below for more information.

One thing we’d like to highlight is that we are creating a community garden right here at the Hub.  We’re working with Sow the City to design the space to grow veg and we’ve been awarded 10 free apple trees from Thatcher’s that the Manchester Fruit Tree Coop are helping us with. If you’re interested in joining, come along to one of our sessions, check the noticeboard in the porch or speak to Hannah. In the next few months we will also be running a learn to grow course so watch this space.

On the 9th of April we are running a focus group with some business students from the university. The students are looking into how we can run events or even a community café. If you can spare an hour to help us with our future please speak to the office for more information.

As always, we are looking for more volunteers to help us with all our new groups so if you’re interested please speak to our volunteer manager, Hannah, at hannah@ladybarncommunityhub.co.uk. See our schedule of activities below and watch out for updates in the next months as we add more and more. Contact the Hub on 01612243733 or info@ladybarncommunityhub.co.uk, or come to our activities at Royle Street, Manchester M14 6RN.  We hope to see you soon.
