If we have referred you to a hospital or specialist, you can check on your referral without contacting us.

Call the Care Gateway

The Care Gateway is an NHS service that manages referrals for patients of Manchester GP surgeries. Call them if:

• you have not heard from the hospital
• you have lost your referral letter, or your booking reference and password
• the hospital says it has not received your referral
• you need to change or cancel a hospital appointment

Check in the NHS App

You may be able to see your referral and hospital appointments in the NHS App (opens the NHS website). This depends on the hospital.

If you get worse while you wait

If your symptoms get worse or change, request an urgent appointment. A doctor will look at your request the same day.
