Appointments
You can ask for an appointment online or by phone. We will look at the information you give us and decide who is the most suitable person to help, and when.
Request an appointment online
Our online form is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm. It is closed at weekends and on bank holidays.
Answer the questions about your problem. We will reply by text or email to tell you what happens next. This might be an appointment, a phone call, advice, or a referral to another service.
Urgent appointments for today
Use this for a new health problem, or a problem that is getting worse.
Request an urgent appointment onlineA doctor will look at your request the same day. Until a doctor has seen it, we treat every new problem as urgent.
If you need a sick note and have not seen us about the problem before, use this form too.
Routine appointments
Use this for a problem we already know about, such as a medication check, an asthma review or contraception.
Request a routine appointment onlineA doctor will look at your request within 2 working days.
Ask for an appointment by phone
If you cannot use the online form, call us on 0161 448 4500, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm. You can also come to reception at 54 Briarfield Road.
Our receptionists will ask you the same questions as the online form, so they can get you to the right person.
Evening and Saturday appointments
We work with other GP surgeries in Withington and Fallowfield Primary Care Network to offer routine appointments in the evenings and on Saturdays.
- Appointments are at GP surgeries in south Manchester.
- The days, times and types of appointment change from week to week.
You may see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional from another surgery. They can see your health record.
To find out what is available and book, call us on 0161 448 4500 or ask at reception.
Change or cancel an appointment
If you cannot come, tell us as soon as you can, even on the day. We can then give your appointment to someone else.
- use the NHS App (opens the NHS website)
- call us on 0161 448 4500
- send us a message using our online admin form
You cannot cancel by replying to a text reminder.
Yearly reviews with our nurses
If you have a long-term condition, such as asthma, diabetes or high blood pressure, we will invite you for a review once a year, around the month of your birthday. If you have more than one condition, we try to review them all at one appointment.
We send the invitation by text. It is genuine. Call us to book.
Minor surgery
We can remove some moles, skin tags, cysts and other small skin growths at the surgery, if our doctor thinks it is the right treatment for you. Dr Jennifer Hamilton runs this service.
To find out if it is right for you, request a routine appointment with one of our doctors. The NHS does not usually remove harmless skin growths only to improve how they look.
If you need help at your appointment
Tell us if you need:
- an interpreter, including British Sign Language
- a longer appointment
- a chaperone (read our chaperone policy)
- information in a different format, such as large print or easy read
You can tell us in the online form, by phone or at reception.
Home visits
A doctor can visit you at home if you are housebound. This means your health stops you leaving your home, either all the time or because of an illness you have now.
If you can come to the surgery, even with help from family or a carer, we will ask you to come in. We have more equipment here and can do more for you.
How to ask for a home visit
Ask in the same way as for any appointment: use our online form or call us on 0161 448 4500. Say that you need a home visit. A family member or carer can ask for you.
Please ask before 10:30am if you can. This gives the doctor time to call you and plan visits for that day. If you need a visit later in the day, still ask: a doctor will look at your request.
What happens next
We keep a list of patients who are housebound, so we can deal with their requests quickly. If you are not on it but your illness is keeping you at home, we will still look at your request.
A doctor will call you to talk about what you need. After the call, they may:
- visit you at home the same day
- book you an appointment at the surgery for another day
- arrange for a nurse or other healthcare professional to visit you, at a time agreed with you
- give you advice over the phone
In an emergency, call 999. Do not wait for a home visit.
