Clinics and screening
NHS screening checks for early signs of some health problems, before you have symptoms. You will be invited by letter or text when it is your turn.
Cervical screening (smear test)
Women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 are invited for cervical screening. It checks for HPV, a virus that can cause changes to cells in the cervix. It is not a test for cancer, but it helps prevent it.
Your screening is done at the surgery by our nursing team. When you get your invitation, book at reception, or send us a routine appointment request and say it is for cervical screening.
You get your results by letter.
Find out about cervical screening on the NHS website (opens the NHS website)
Trans and non-binary people
If you have a cervix and are registered with us as male, you will not be invited automatically. Tell us if you would like to be included, and we will make sure you are invited. The same applies to breast screening. You can also read NHS screening information for trans and non-binary people (opens the GOV.UK website).
