Sexual health

You can ask us about contraception and sexual health, or go straight to a sexual health clinic. Clinics are free and confidential, and you do not need to be referred.

Sexual health clinics

The Northern is the NHS sexual health service for Manchester. It offers testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV care and all types of contraception, including emergency contraception. Its nearest clinic to us is at Withington Community Hospital.

If you are 19 or under, you can also walk in to Brook Manchester, Commonwealth House, 81 Lever Street, M1 1FL. See Brook Manchester's opening times (opens the Brook website).

Contraception from a pharmacy

Many pharmacies can give you the contraceptive pill without seeing a GP, and emergency contraception (the morning after pill). Find out about contraception on the NHS website (opens the NHS website).

If you are pregnant and do not want to be

You can book an abortion yourself, without seeing us first. Call Central Booking on 0345 365 0565. It books appointments at all NHS abortion clinics in Greater Manchester. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday 9am to 6:30pm, and Sunday 9:30am to 2:30pm.

You can also talk to us about your options.
